White Pomfret is an ocean fish that have a unique taste and white meat. Old wisdom states the taste of the fish increases with increases in size. They have central and side bones and is a favourite fish among a lot of people from the sub-continent and south-east Asia.
They are usually seen in Arabian Gulf and the east coast; near offshore reefs. Fillets of Pomfret are too thin and tender for soups. It is usually deep fried or steamed whole with a few diagonal slashes through its skin on its sides.
Pomfret fishes are medium in fat content and provide calcium, vitamins A and D, including B12. Increased Vitamin B12 makes it beneficial for the nervous system. They are also good for eyesight, healthy hair and skin.
